Moulin Rouge! The Musical Hosts Spectacular PRIDE NIGHT Celebrating LGBTQ+ Latino Youth from Ali Forney Center’s “Vale Todo” Program

New York, May 28, 2024 – On June 11, in a special Pride Month celebration, the Tony Award-winning Broadway show Moulin Rouge! The Musical joins forces with the Ali Forney Center and its “Vale Todo” program to provide 75 young members of the Latino LGBTQ+ community with an unforgettable experience. The youth, who are participants in the center’s programs, will attend a performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

The Ali Forney Center has been a cornerstone of support for LGBTQ+ youth for 20 years. With a team of 150 members and services benefiting nearly 300 people daily, the center offers emergency housing, medical and mental health care, and job training. Its goal is to empower LGBTQ+ youth to live independently and safely.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical opens its doors to welcome these young individuals, offering them a night of celebration and community. The post-show Q&A session with the artists will be a special moment to share experiences and reflections, strengthening bonds within the LGBTQ+ community.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is the winner of ten 2021 Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, two Drama League Awards including Outstanding Production of a Musical, five Drama Desk Awards, and ten Outer Critics Circle Honors, including New Broadway Musical.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical premiered to critical acclaim at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in the summer of 2019 and reopened in September 2021 after the Broadway shutdown due to the pandemic.

The Ali Forney Center (AFC) in New York City is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to supporting homeless LGBTQ+ youth. Established in 2002, it honors the memory of Ali Forney, a gender-nonconforming homeless youth who was tragically murdered. The center offers a range of services, including emergency and transitional housing, medical and mental health care, and job training. Its 24-hour drop-in center provides a safe space for accessing basic needs and counseling. The AFC aims to empower LGBTQ+ youth to live independently by addressing their specific needs.


The Vale Todo program at the Ali Forney Center is specifically designed for Spanish-speaking individuals, providing a safe and inclusive space to discuss a wide range of topics. It offers support in areas such as job orientation, resume writing, LGBTQ information, sharing personal migration stories, and promoting family unity among members. The program aims to help young people between the ages of 16 and 24 adapt to life in the United States by addressing various issues, from immigration questions to finding stable housing and employment, while maintaining cultural family values.
