From the Amazon jungle to the world’s most famous concrete jungle.

Adriana Aristizábal ‘s career exemplifies reinvention and overcoming challenges.

My life has been defined by the closure and beginning of cycles.the end of careers, and the start of new ones. I am a business administrator, having graduated from the National University of Colombia. I am also a journalist. Indeed, I worked as a war correspondent in Colombia. For seven years, I worked at CM& and for the RCN network.  As a result of that work, I had to leave my country.

Her career as a journalist took a different turn. when her name appeared on a list of targets to be assassinated by the FARC, a guerrilla group designated as a terrorist organization by the United States Until 2021.

Her next move was to seek refuge in New York City. In New York City, her dedication to highlighting social and political issues led her to the Colombian Consulate.

I arrived in this country without speaking English. As a public servant with a humble job. So, that’s when I took initiative. and pursued a master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations. And I began learning English because I understood that mastering the language would open doors for me, not just in New York City, but around the world.

Adriana Aristizabal CEO iVoice Communications

This decision led her to establish the public relations company iVoice Communications in 2014, to serve as a consultant for New York City Tourism and Conventions,  and to write two books narrating her experiences:

“Professional Metamorphosis” and her concept of the so-called American dream.

Dreams must be turned into actions. Dreaming alone is not enough. We have to take action. but we also have to act hand in hand with others. We have to surround ourselves with support networks.

Support like the one she provides today through professional organizations that promote the development of our community.

To the young people out there in this country seeking opportunities: There are numerous opportunities in the United States to grow in many ways, to educate oneself, to find employment. There are organizations. We have a community of 61 million people, a community where we can assist each other in achieving our goals.

Her source of inspiration, the city that never sleeps, New York City.

The iconic places reinventing themselves and attracting tourism, well, it’s a truly uplifting job,
and for me, as a Latina, it’s a source of pride.

A tribute to strength, a beacon of inspiration – that’s the story of Adriana Aristizábal, on NY1 Noticias.
